HISTORY

ASSIST’ is the Social Development Office for the Trichy Province of the Salesian Sisters. Due to the erection of new province in Tamilnadu the new Development Office emerged out of the existing Development Office – ARUWYE in Chennai to function independently catering its service to the 12 Districts in Tamilnadu.  ASSIST aspires to improve the living conditions of the poor and marginalized by adopting strategies through community initiative, participation, and sensitization. The organization engages itself with the marginalized and vulnerable groups of the society. Education is the prime area of focus for empowerment through promotion of employability in order to enable the target group to contribute towards the mainstream development process.

Mission

Objective

  1. Increase access to quality education and encourage enrollment in regular schools.

  2. To provide skills to youth and add value by way of soft skills and preparedness to enhance employability.

  3. Build resilience and promote gender equality by empowering women through Human Rights education and facilitating Entrepreneurship.

  4. To build up and promote social dimension in the province according to FMA charism especially in networking, campaigning, lobbying, and advocacy.

  5. To pro-actively collaborate with FMA-NDF (National Development Forum) for greater visibility and effectiveness in the Social dimension at the national level.

  6. To build a state-level network for priority people for focused intervention and to be recognized by the Government as partners in the development of the marginalized.

  7. To create systems and mechanisms to mobilize resources through government, local, national, and international organizations to support developmental activities.

  8. To generate greater visibility through process documentation, publication, website, and engaging in micro researches.
