HISTORY
Year of establishment: 1996. History: On 8 October 1995 Provincial Council' Meeting it was proposed to establish Development Office at Auxilium Convent, 10 P.K.Guha Road, Dum Dum, Kolkata - 700028. The purpose of establishment was to see to the planning, implemention and evaluation of the project work sponsored by DMOS Comide. The introducer for this project plan was Rev. Fr. Provost C. SDB together with Mr. Oscar Meynlein (the delegate of DMOS Comide). There was a training programme by Rev. Fr. Provost C. SDB, for team of office berers namely (Srs. Jemma Lebraleso, Anna Fernandes, Rosa Ceviero, Teresa Mundacle and Mary George T . from 15 to 20 May 1996. As a result Development Office was established in the Province in 1996. Registered: on 17.03.2004, under the West Bengal Act XXVI of 1961 N0. SO120658 of 2003-2004
Description
It is the Social Development Office of the Daughters of Mary Help of Christians (Salesian Sisters of Don Bosco), Kolkata Province. It is part of the FMA National Development Forum (FMA – NDF) and an international network of FMA Organisations across the globe. In the course of time KSSDS has expanded, Community Development, Sustainable Livelihood, Formation and promotion of SHG, Vocational Training, Employable skill development Programme for vulnerable youth, assistance to distrass migrants & marginalized during natural disaster, sustainable education for dropouts students through NIOS, awareness on Human Trafficking, Cybercrime, Child Protection Policy, Child Right, Child Safety. KSSDS continues to work with the tribal and non-tribal communities in seven states of the country India. KSSDS instills hope and courage among millions of its marginalized target groups consisting of Women, Children and Youth irrespective of religion, race, caste, color, communities or social status.
Vision
Together with the marginalized KSSDS strives to build sustainable, just and eco-friendly neighborhood communities towards fullness of life. It’s only aim is to empower humanity so as to eradicate evil that destroys human life.
Mission
KSSDS envisages towards empowering the socially and economically poor and the marginalized especially children, young and women by:
Educating the children and the young to cope with the demands of life
Enhancing health and hygiene for a holistic life
Empowering the women to be self-reliant and self-sustainable
Objective
Reach out to the poor and less privileged in their own surroundings in view of assisting them in their development irrespective of race, cast, communities and social status.
Organize and capacitate Children, Youth and Women to realize their basic Socio- Economic and Cultural Rights for sustainable development.
Promote mass legal literacy and eco-awareness.
Evolve strategies to respond effectively to the emerging developmental opportunities, challenges and demands at regional level by engaging in micro - researches.
Actively collaborate with FMA-NDF (National Development Forum) for greater visibility and effectiveness in the Social dimension of the Province.
Impart updated and market oriented vocational skill training.
Generate greater visibility through process documentation, publication and audio-visual materials
